Chocolate Cake at Wells Blue

I was invited to go and talk at Wells Blue School by a really remarkable group of students who call themselves “Bookworms”  They are a group of Year 7 students who have decided that they are going to share their love of reading by organizing literary events and inviting authors into their school.  I was very flattered to be invited, but nothing prepared me for the reception I received.

It started with lunch.  Note the table-cloth, apple juice in a beautiful bottle, fantastic art work.  I felt really treated.

Then the press came: this was the Wells Journal picture (for which thanks):

Then I gave my talk, to which the Bookworms had invited a group of Year 9 pupils to join them.  And after the talk, the real spoiling: delicious chocolate cake:

Also note the beautiful flowers, which I brought home, as well as an amazing paper flower which the girls gave to me.  Huge thanks to Mr Mantell for the photos, Mrs Burgess for use of the library, and above all to Tilly, Chloe, Amber, Emily and Megan.
